Six Building Supplies You'll Need For A Shed

Posted on

You have a plan, you have a place to build, and you know just what you want your shed to be. Now all that's left is to get the right building supplies. But where do you start?

If you're planning on building your own shed or want to add an extension to your existing one, then there are six key building supplies that you'll need to buy.

These are:

1. Wooden Posts

These can be used as the foundations for your shed and will help to keep it sturdy and strong. They also make great supports for roofs and any other types of extensions.

2. Ribs

Ribs are a crucial part of any shed as they provide strength and support for the walls, ceiling, and roofing material. It's important that these are made from hardwood so that they don't rot or decay over time.

3. Wooden Boards

Wood is one of the most common materials used in sheds because it's strong, durable, and affordable. You can buy boards from a hardware store or lumberyard, or you can use recycled timber from your own property if you have any trees that have been damaged by storms or rot.

4. Wood Screws

These screws are used to attach the wooden boards together. They're also called "decking screws", "deck screws" or "screws for decking". If you're just building a small shed for storing tools, then one pack of 100 screws will be more than enough; otherwise, two packs should do it.

5. Plasterboard

Plasterboard is used in many different types of buildings such as offices and homes because it provides insulation against extreme temperatures outside as well as soundproofing inside. This means that your shed will stay warm in winter and cool in summer—perfect for protecting all those valuable tools against heat.

6. Roofing

Roofing materials include tin sheets, tiles, and corrugated iron sheets, among others. If you're on a tight budget but still want a high-quality product then corrugated iron sheets are a good choice because they're both durable and affordable. Tin sheets are also popular because they're easy to install and provide good protection from rainwater penetration into the structure of your shed's roof.

Building a shed can be a fun and rewarding project, but it's not without its challenges. One of the most important things you need to keep in mind is that your shed needs to be sturdy and well-built, so you don't want to skimp on materials or building supplies.
